Unfortunately, the world is full of them, and your children may not necessarily understand that. In a Internet age where texting with emoticons and shorthand are realities, fully understanding what people are looking for from a status, a message, an IM, a posting, etc. can be confusing, even for experienced adults.  That's why I'm glad that there are programs like iNet Protector. It’s a web and network monitoring tool for Windows that can be used on your home network.

It's all about protecting your kids. They should be able to surf age appropriate sites without fear of being exploited or seeing something they shouldn't. This is where iNet Protector comes into play. Whether you're a small business wanting to keep work time as work time, or a concerned parent wanting to keep your children away from inappropriate sites and, uh-hem..., images, iNet Protector is a tool everyone can use.

iNet Protector restricts Internet access at specified times or on demand. You can disable the connection completely; or limit the Internet to work with allowed programs and services only. In order to fully enable Internet access, a user defined password must be entered. Without the password, Internet access is not possible.

You can easily schedule Internet availability at a schedule of your choosing. iNet Protector's Timer allows you to disable Internet connection after specified amount of time. This is ideal tool for parents and businesses wanting to restrict access.

Pros: Affordable, configurable, easy to set options.

Cons: Lost password will lock out all internet access for everyone, filtering and content rules need to be correct to insure appropriate users are protected.

Conclusion: Parental control software that doesn't restrict too much, making internet surfing and use difficult is a problem from a PC management perspective. Keeping porn out of your home and/or work network is important. Thankfully, iNet Protector takes a lot of the hassle out of the way and provides the filtering and protection you want on your network without all of the grief that can go along with both false positives (appropriate traffic blocked) AND false negatives (inappropriate traffic NOT blocked).
